Medium Business Solutions we developed in last couple years are based on different industry practices, research, testing and deployment. We are tackling here hundreds of businesses in San Diego and solutions represented here are generic and can be modified to your industry standards and your company specifications.

We have two mainly used solutions for medium business and we’ll show you visually and in theory why you should deploy them in your network.

First Solution we call it “MBS Basic”:

Hardware and Software Used for Network Size of 50> computers and 3 Servers:

  • Dell PowerEdge Server (4GB,RAID1-250GB, RAID5-1TB,DVD,2x1Gbps)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard
  • Sonicwall TZ Standard Firmware
  • Dell PowerConnect 1Gpbs Switch
  • External Storage
  • Off-Site Backup (Secure Networks ITC Storage Solutions)

In this setup we use your internet connection either Cable or DSL, and you need Static IP package that allow your workforce to access remotely their computers and email. Your internet connection is running thru your default gateway which is in this scenario Sonicwall TZ Series, but any other brand can be used, Cisco, Watchguard even regular windows server box to act as a router/firewall. Your computers and server goes in one switch where we recommend 1Gpbs switch for faster data access. We have DMZ Zone for your back-end server Windows Server 2008 R2 and your SQL Server 2008 R2 for your internal applications. Microsoft Exchange 2010 which gives your Information Worker freedom to work from anywhere on the planet and with new enhancements has never been easier to manage your users even thru the web. Your end-users can access their email using web based access, via Outlook Anywhere or using active sync technology and their mobile devices. In this setup we incorporate VPN as well for your mobile workforce, customers or management to connect to the server like they are sitting at your office.

Second Solution we call it “MBS Advanced”:

Hardware and Software Used for Network Size of 100> computers and 6 Servers:

  • Dell PowerEdge Server (4GB,RAID1-250GB, RAID5-1TB,DVD,2x1Gbps)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
  • Microsoft Exchange Server Enterprise 2010
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise
  • Sonicwall SRA Enhanced
  • Dell PowerConnect 1Gpbs Switch
  • External Storage
  • Off-Site Backup (Secure Networks ITC Storage Solutions)

In this setup as you see we’re focusing on redundancy. First we use two internet connections Cable and DSL which gives you redundant internet both ways, and you need Static IP package that allow your workforce to access remotely their computers and email. Your internet connection is running thru your default gateway which is in this scenario Sonicwall SRA Enhanced Series and it’s active/passive if any of your internet connections goes down other takes over, but any other brand can be used, Cisco, Watchguard even regular windows server box to act as a router/firewall. Your computers and server goes in to switches where we recommend 1Gpbs switch for faster data access, one for DMZ and other for your back-end network. We have DMZ Zone for your back-end server Windows Server 2008 R2 and your SQL Server 2008 R2 for your internal applications. Here we also incorporate load balancing by doubling servers and having redundancy on hardware and software level. Microsoft Exchange 2010 which gives your Information Worker freedom to work from anywhere on the planet and with new enhancements has never been easier to manage your users even thru the web. Your end-users can access their email using web based access, via Outlook Anywhere or using active-sync technology and their mobile devices. In this setup we incorporate VPN as well for your mobile workforce, customers or management to connect to the server like they are sitting at your office.
